Code Enforcement Officer

The Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) is responsible for the following duties:

CEO – CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER 


a. Review zoning: land use ordinances and shoreland zoning requirements.

i. Enforcing Municipal Zoning requirements.

b. Review building plans.
c. Review handicap accessibility in commercial buildings.
d. Issue the following:
      i. Building permits, certificate of occupancy permits, shoreland zoning permits

e. Check flood hazards.
f. Work with the Planning Board, The Comprehensive Planning Committee and the Board of Appeals.

 

LPI – LOCAL PLUMBING INSPECTOR

a. Issue plumbing permits for interior plumbing and sub-surface waste-water.
b. Inspect interior and exterior plumbing as constructed.

 

BI - BUILDING INSPECTOR


a. Inspects buildings and manufactured housing as they are built and/or set on site.
b. Inspects dangerous buildings as required.

 

ENFORCEMENT

a. Identifies nuisance properties and proceeds as required for compliance.
b. Investigates zoning and building complaints.

 

911 ADDRESSING OFFICER

a. Assigns address to new town residents.
b. Approving correct road names for new roads.
c. Providing road and/or address changes to ESCB (Emergency Services Communication Bureau ) and Fairpoint telephone.

LHO - LOCAL HEALTH OFFICER

a. Overall Health resource for the town.
b. Reports to the Board of Selectmen when necessary.
c. Mediator/problem solver between landlord and tenants.
d. Reports to the Maine CDC/DHHS on any perceived local public health threats.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

a. Reports to the town manager regarding on-going maintenance for town owned buildings and facilities.
b. Supervises maintenance projects on all town owned buildings and properties. Monitors quality of work and materials used.
c. Assists the town manager in grant writing by providing research into each project and by interacting with State and Federal agencies.
